Debayte Proves to be a Force of Nature Once Again!

We came, we saw the famous Bean, and we conquered. Without a doubt, Glenbrooks is one of the most competitive tournaments of the season, but the caliber of our team would not be so impressive if we did not not compete with the best of the best. After a full day of practice, rest and pep talks at the hotel, our debaters went into rounds and showed competitors from around the nation what is means to be part of Cypress. Their talent and consistency certainly showed in the results. We WON Speech Team Sweeps, Cory Wurtenberger was the Informative Speaking Champion for the SECOND CONSECUTIVE TIME and we had a NOVICE Public Forum team go 3-4 in a VARSITY pool! Our debaters are undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with, so please join us in congratulating the rest of their successes this weekend:

Jenesis Williams (sophomore) placed 2nd in Informative Speaking and placed top 24 in Original Oratory

Tristan Wertanzl (junior) placed 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking

Noah Rabinovitch (senior) placed 6th in Informative Speaking and placed top 12 in Original Oratory

Ambreen Imran (senior) placed 6th in Congressional Debate

Jose Quinones (senior) placed 6th in Extemporaneous Speaking

Maria Duran (junior) reached placed top 12 in in Informative Speaking

Gus Lanz (junior) reached placed top 12 in in Extemporaneous Speaking

Valentina Villarroel (senior) reached placed top 12 in in Program Oral Interpretation

We could not be prouder of our team! Washington DC better be ready for a severe weather alter, because that’s where lighting strikes next.
